By 2021, the "digital health village" project will have been completed in the upper redach valley or "digi ort" for short tested. On wednesday, a presentation was given at the district administration office to show what can be understood behind it.
"Digi ort", this is the buzzword that is to be used in the future to improve medical and nursing care in the communities of wallenfels, steinwiesen and nordhalben and, in the long term, in the entire district. In the upper roachtal, the project is currently being implemented in cooperation with caritas and the fraunhofer working group for supply chain services.
Relief for members
Digital networking, e-file, e-prescription and home assistance systems are technologies that mayors gerhard wunder (steinwiesen), jens korn (wallenfels) and michael pohnlein (nordhalben) hope will make care more efficient. The use of digital solutions is also intended to relieve the burden on those in need, family carers and outpatient services.
As andreas hamper of the frauenhofer institute explained, it is expected that by 2028 one in three residents will be over 65 years old. The average age of general practitioners is 50 years. With the help of digital solutions, care should now be ensured in the future.
Easier data exchange
Hamper explained the system as follows: by means of a digital platform, outpatient care services, general practitioners as well as patients and their families are networked with the aim of simplifying the coordination processes. This platform will be used to exchange health and care data between primary care physicians and outpatient services. This made it easier for doctors to stay informed about how their patients are doing.
This, in turn, could make online consultation possible and save one or the other home visit. In addition, data from the home environment will be integrated into the platform. The integration of commercial active-assisted-living systems is also being tested, with the aim of making everyday life easier for older people. For example, a smartphone can be used to control light and heat, and stoves with shut-off systems can be installed. Furthermore, there are T-shirts that can be used to monitor the heartbeat by installing the appropriate sensors.
Contact point in steinwiesen
As caritas managing director cornelia thron explained, the "in der heimat wohnen" building is scheduled for completion in mid-2020 a point of contact will be set up in steinwiesen. A specialist advisor will advise citizens on the possibilities of technology-assisted living. Gerhard wunder explained that the use of AAL systems is currently being tested in six apartments.
"Digi ort" will not replace the doctor or caregiver, but is intended as a supplement, says melanie huml, state minister for health and care (CSU). Her ministry is supporting the testing of this digital platform with 2.4 million euros over a period of three years. According to her, the total costs amount to 2.6 million euros.
"Get health insurance companies on board"
For AAL systems, according to huml, a subsidy of up to 4000 euro is possible through the nursing care insurance fund. She was convinced that the investment costs here would mostly remain within reasonable limits "because most elderly people do not need all the aids that the market will provide".
Gerhard wunder saw it as the duty of the municipal family to "digi ort" the burgers to convey. And: "we have to get the health insurance companies on board!"
Michael pohnlein appealed to all involved "digi ort to communicate in an easily understandable language. As far as the financing of the AAL systems is concerned, he said, "there are seniors in the region who are in need, but there are also those who prefer to give their money to their grandchildren."
Jens korn spoke of the fact that in his city "health care 4.0" is practiced. At the beginning, burgers were critical, but now they are quite willing to accept the offer of digitization in the healthcare sector.
District administrator klaus loffler buried the development in the upper rodach valley. However, he also emphasized that the prerequisites for digitalization in the health sector had to be created, for example, the expansion of broadband had to be accelerated. Here also the federal government is demanded.
